Head of the Meadow Beach
Head of the Meadow Beach in Truro isn't as well known as the other beaches operated by the Cape Cod National Seashore, but it's a beauty and worth visiting if you're in the area. In fact, all the beaches in the Lower Cape, including those not under the Cape Cod National Seashore, are gems and you won't be disappointed with any of them. The Cape Cod National Seashore runs one side of the beach and the Town of Truro operates the other side, which is a resident only beach. The parking lot is not very large so it's best to head out early if you want a parking spot. For shipwreck enthusiasts, be sure to visit at low tide because the wreck of Frances, sunk by a gale in December of 1872, can often be seen. (We seem to just hit it at high tide, so Frances remains a mystery to us)
Like all of the National Sea Shore Beaches, Head of the Meadow does not have a snack bar so make sure you carry in your drinks and snacks. And they have limited restroom facilities. (a nice euphemism for porta potties) You'll pay the standard $15.00 National Seashore parking fee unless you bike in.
