Nauset Light BeachNauset Light Beach in Eastham is just steps away from Coast Guard Beach, and shares its beauty.
It's also home to one of the most photographed lighthouses on Cape Cod- Nauset Light - which thankfully was moved 300 feet after erosion left it less than 25 feet from the edge of the dunes. Free tours of the Nauset Lighthouse run on Wednesdays and Sundays throughout the summer from 4.30pm-7.30pm by volunteers from the non-profit the Nauset Light Preservation Group. You won't have to take a shuttle but this parking lot does fill up quite early so if you have your heart set on Nauset Light, get there by 11.00 to ensure a spot. There is a $15.00 parking fee but this can be avoided by biking in via the Nauset Bike Trail. The beach is beautiful, with wonderful views, robust waves and invigorating water. But once you get used to not feeling your limbs, it isn't so bad. Really. It basically becomes a matter of pride for Karen to go swimming everytime she hits the beach. Not just a paddle, but total immersion, head under water, and a few laps, but Michael tends to stay at the shoreline if it's too cold. He blames his delicate English blood.
Like all of the National Sea Shore Beaches, Nauset Light does not have a snack bar so plan accordingly. They do have changing rooms and showers.
