Bursley ManorThe Bursley Manor is one of the oldest properties in West Barnstable, having been built in 1670, and having served as the center of operations for a dairy farm for many years. Now it is a beautiful Cape Cod bed and breakfast located on Route 6a. The location is quiet and peaceful yet close enough to Route 6 (the Cape's main highway) that you can easily use it as a home base for exploring all of Cape Cod. The Hyannis Whale Watch Cruises depart from Barnstable Harbor just a fifteen minutes away and Sandy Neck beach is just a few minutes away in the opposite direction. There are five guest rooms, the largest of which is the light and airy Wicker Room, which features a working fireplace, and a spacious bathroom with a large Jacuzzi bathtub. Other rooms include the Mad Jack Room (named after Barnstable's most famous sea captain), the Wisteria Room, the Rose Room and the Laura Room. Host Sheila Bournival will often greet guests with a glass of wine upon arrival and provides a wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, waffles, juice, coffee and pastries. Breakfast is served either in the bright, sun-filled dining room or on the lovely brick patio. Two policies that may be of particular interest to visiting couples are that a minimum stay is not required and no children are allowed.
