Chatham Seaside Links

The Chatham Seaside Links is small nine-hole course located almost right in the heart of downtown Chatham. It was built in 1895 and was originally part of the Chatham Bars Inn resort but the course has since been taken over by the town.

The fact that it is only nine holes means you can play a round and still have plenty of time left in the day for the beach or sightseeing. And the fact that it is right in downtown Chatham means that you won't be far from the action when you round is over.

Despite its compact size (or perhaps because of it) the course does provide its share of challenges. And it's actually a terrific course for couples to play because the long game of some male players will be nullified somewhat by the fact that every hole is either par 3 or 4.

It is also a hilly course, which is unusual for this part of the world. Perhaps only Sandwich Hollows has a hillier terrain on Cape Cod.

In addition to providing its share of golfing challenges, the hilly terrain also allows Seaside to offer some of the Cape's prettiest views, including glimpses of Chatham Harbor. The view from the top of the 7th green is particularly lovely.

In the past, the course has been criticized for a low level of maintenance and the use of Astroturf on certain tees. But an irrigation system was installed a few years ago, which has greatly improved the quality of the course.
