North of Highland Camping AreaSet in the middle of a scrub pine forest on the heels of the Cape Cod National Seashore, the North of Highland Camping Area is a great place to camp if you're looking to stay in the lower Cape, our favorite area on Cape Cod. Wellfleet and Provincetown are just minutes away so this is an ideal location to experience the outer Cape. With 237 good sized, private and rustic campsites, North of Highland Camping Area is a tent and pop up only camp site so if you have an RV, you'll have to look elsewhere. The only problem with this camp ground is that you can't have an open fire. You can cook but you won't be roasting marshmellows over a roaring fire. But located a high mile away from Head of the Meadow Beach, you can walk the short distance through a wooded trail or drive over and have yourself a nice fire at sunset. If you've never sat on the beach at sunset with a roaring beach fire and a glass of wine or beer, you'll wonder why you've waited so long once you do. Although you'll find plenty of families, they enforce their quiet hours and there are plenty of couples camping there, too.
