The Town of Truro for CouplesThe birthplace of the American Whaling Industry, the town of Truro is an outer cape jewel and boasts ten public beaches, the oldest golf course on Cape Cod and one of the few remaining working lighthouses that is open to the public. Over half of Truro falls within the Cape Cod National Seashore so there is plenty of open space to explore. Sandwiched between Provincetown and Wellfleet, Truro has retained the New England seaside charm that makes the Cape a unique tourist destination and a haven for artists and those seeking solitude. Golfers will appreciate Highland Golf Links, the oldest and perhaps most scenic golf course on the Cape. Nestled on a sweeping bluff, with views of the ocean from each of its nine holes, it maintains its Scottish lineage with its wide non-irrigated fairways, abundance of Scottish broom and heath and spectacular views. Wine enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to the Truro Vineyards where theyll find a variety of Reds (Cabernet, Maritime Red) Whites (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Vignoles), Blush and their Lighthouse Series. Open from May until December, Truro Vineyards offers wine tastings and tours. And if youve ever dreamed of having a fire on the beach, make sure you get your permit at the the town of Truro Fire Station and make your way at sunset to Head of the Meadow Beach. Bring wood and paper to start your fire and make sure you put out the embers before you leave. There is nothing more romantic than bringing a bottle of wine, some cheese and crackers, or even a pizza and a six-pack and watching the sunset and flames glow. If you have a guitar, why not bring that and strum a few chords? Weve done fires for years and still find them magical. If there are high winds or it has been particularly dry, they may not issue you a permit.
